Europe Must Choose, and Secure Its Future

A call to action for a continent at a crossroads — between a future that happens to us, and one we boldly create.

The Future Is Not Something That Happens to Us

For decades, we have been told that the future is made elsewhere — primarily in the United States — and that here in Europe, it simply happens to us. The forces shaping tomorrow seemed beyond our control: Silicon Valley, Wall Street, the U.S. government, and global markets such as NASDAQ.

Recent events have challenged that assumption. The actions of the current U.S. administration have created significant disruption across Europe, but they have also forced us to confront a crucial truth: the future is not something that happens to us. It is something we choose.

A Defining Moment

More precisely, the future is the sum of the choices we make every day, here in Europe. The disruption we face is also an invitation — to step forward, to lead, and to define our own destiny.

The Age of the Intelligence Revolution

Humanity is facing a tsunami of hyper-exponential technologies — amplified by AI — that could create unprecedented prosperity or profound instability.

Robotics

Autonomous systems are reshaping manufacturing, logistics, and daily life at an accelerating pace.

Quantum Computing

Processing power beyond imagination, unlocking solutions to problems previously considered unsolvable.

Nuclear Fusion

Clean, virtually limitless energy that could transform the global energy landscape forever.

Synthetic Biology

Engineering life itself — from medicine to agriculture — with profound ethical implications.

Geoengineering

Deliberate, large-scale interventions in Earth's systems to counteract climate change.

AI Acceleration

The force multiplying all other technologies — the engine of the Intelligence Revolution.

Call to Action #1

Adopt a Future Mindset

Become comfortable with uncertainty, and with being uncomfortable. Stop relying on past achievements and assuming that the future is someone else's responsibility.

Europe needs a Future Mindset — one capable of creating a future that is not only smart, but also wise. This means embracing ambiguity, cultivating long-term thinking, and developing the courage to act before certainty arrives.

Embrace Uncertainty

Treat disruption as opportunity, not threat.

Think Long-Term

Move beyond quarterly cycles to generational vision.

Act with Wisdom

Smart is not enough — the future demands wise leadership.

The Real Question Is Not What Technology Can Do

By 2030, capabilities that seem extraordinary today — including Super-Intelligence and AGI — may become commonplace. The real question is what technology should do.

What kind of future do we want, as Europeans — and how will we make our voice matter? The answer to that question will define the next century.

Europe's Greatest Test Since World War II

The Challenge Before Us

In a world increasingly dominated by geopolitical turbulence, power-plays and posturing, algorithmic power, and global technology empires, Europe can no longer afford to wait, follow, or drift.

Europe must find its voice, define its purpose and direction, and act with courage and determination.

Our Unique Strength

Our strength does not lie in being bigger, faster, richer, or happier than others. It lies in our ability to offer a distinctly human-centered vision of the future — one grounded in democracy, sustainability, ethics, and shared prosperity.

👥 People

Placing human dignity and well-being at the center of every decision.

🌍 Planet

Protecting our natural world for generations to come.

🎯 Purpose

Building societies driven by meaning, not just metrics.

🕊️ Peace

Upholding the European tradition of cooperation and diplomacy.

💡 Prosperity

Shared wealth and opportunity — not concentrated power or profit.

A future built on the 5Ps: People, Planet, Purpose, Peace and Prosperity — not a future defined by a single P: Profit (or Power).

Call to Action #2

Accelerate Innovation, Unlock Europe's Potential

Support Innovation

Dramatically increase funding for startups, deep tech, and breakthrough research across the continent.

Unlock Venture Capital

Build a thriving European VC ecosystem that can compete with Silicon Valley on scale and ambition.

Redesign Systems

Overhaul education, taxation, and regulation to empower creators, builders, and innovators — while preserving our human values.

Call to Action #3

Reinvent Our Economic Model

Rethink Europe's increasingly fragile model of social capitalism and develop a future-fit economic framework based on the 5Ps. The old model — built for a slower, more stable world — is no longer sufficient for the age of exponential change.

This requires bold, structural ambition at a continental scale.

Ambitious Initiatives

  • A truly pan-European capital market that mobilizes investment at scale
  • A pan-European military to ensure collective security and strategic autonomy
  • A future-fit fiscal framework aligned with the 5Ps
  • New metrics of prosperity beyond GDP
Call to Action #4

Prepare for the Future of Work

As automation transforms every industry and labor market, Europe must ensure that the wealth generated by AI benefits all citizens — not just a privileged few.

Universal Basic Capital

Explore mechanisms that give every citizen a stake in the AI-driven economy — capital, not just income.

European AI Wealth Fund

A sovereign fund that captures value from AI productivity gains and redistributes it broadly across society.

Workforce Transformation

Invest massively in reskilling, lifelong learning, and transition support as entire job categories are reshaped.

Call to Action #5

Strengthen European Sovereignty

Build greater European sovereignty across every critical domain. Dependence on external powers — for technology, energy, defense, or infrastructure — is a strategic vulnerability Europe can no longer afford.

Technology & AI

Develop sovereign European AI capabilities, cloud infrastructure, and semiconductor supply chains to reduce dependence on foreign platforms.

Energy Independence

Accelerate the transition to renewable energy and build a resilient, interconnected European energy grid.

Defense & Security

Invest in a credible, coordinated European defense capability that can protect our values and our borders.

Strategic Infrastructure

Secure critical infrastructure — from ports and data centers to satellite networks — under European ownership and governance.

Call to Action #6

Complete the European Project

Move beyond coordination toward genuine integration. The European Union was built on a vision of unity — but that vision remains incomplete. Fragmentation, national vetoes, and slow decision-making are luxuries we can no longer afford in a world moving at exponential speed.

Make the vision of a United States of Europe a reality. Not as an abstract ideal, but as a practical, urgent necessity for the 21st century.

The future is not predetermined. It is a choice. Europe must choose — and it must choose now.

From Coordination

Slow, fragmented, nationally vetoed decisions.

To Integration

Bold, unified, decisive action at continental scale.

The Good Future or the Bad Future? Europe must take a stand - Fight for The Good Future

In this hard-hitting new video, I start with the assertion that #thegoodfuture will no longer come from the United States. It is heart-wrenching to observe that the U.S. is rapidly shifting toward what can only be called “the bad future”: power and might over purpose and collective benefit, reckless techno-optimism and greed fuelling a dangerous AI arms-race, and transactional, brute-force diplomacy over trust and collaboration. I see a strong connection between America's political decline int
